Nordic's Yell, un patronyme qui semble en dire long, tant sur l'origine du groupe que sur la musique délivrée. On est certain de pas avoir affaire à de la bonne soupe formatée R'n'bi. Il est vrai que l'imagerie viking semble avoir le vent en poupe. Seul hic, point de gros barbus braillant et brandissant sa hache, ni drakkar sur l'art-work de la pochette. Pas de runes ni de dieux nordiques. Juste un fond blanc sur lequel se détache un pauvre petit poisson rouge qui saute hors de son bocal ; préférant la mort, ou affronter l'inconnu (ce qui pour lui reviendra au même résultat), plutôt que d'être pollué par l'argent. Ou bien est-ce l'argent qui a déjà pollué son environnement ? Est-ce que le poisson essaye d'échapper à une corruption en tentant de rejoindre le « Nordic's Yell » ? Comme pour retrouver une bouffée d'oxygène, quelque chose de plus sain, voire se ressourcer
Une image symbolique qui est loin d'être déplaisante, au contraire (et qui, au passage, est à l'encontre de tous ces « artistes » affichant tous les attributs ostentatoires d'une réussite matérialiste, exposant bijoux imposants et tapageurs, et voitures de luxes). La calligraphie du patronyme, fait d'un lettrage semblant réalisé d'une main nerveuse et lourde, à l'aide d'une plume d'oie accrochant le papier, tranche avec le fonds et l'image. Un ensemble intéressant qui sort des sentiers battues et qui ne donne aucune indication quant au contenu. C'est déjà un premier bon point. Le second, c'est la musique. De prime abord, du très gros Rock, entre Heavy-Metal, Stoner et Hard-Rock, mais pas que. Finalement, peut-être que ces Nordic's Yellfont avant tout du Nordic's Yell.

Le nom de Nordic’s Yell ne vous dit peut-être rien. Probablement rien d’ailleurs. Pourtant, le fait d’être encore jeunes et fraîchement débarqués sur la scène stoner nationale ne semble absolument pas leur poser de problème. Sorti il y a quelques mois, leur premier disque est intense, brutal mais pas abrutissant, et surtout bourré d’assurance. Ça ne vous dit toujours rien ? On se charge des présentations

I Nordic’s Yell mi hanno conquistata, Niels e Lorenzo ce l’hanno fatta ad entrare nel mio cuore ed in quello di tanti altri; i loro meriti sono molti a partire dalla schiettezza con cui si propongono, all’aver reso onore ad un genere talvolta ripetitivo, innestando elementi dal forte impatto, ricercando una composizione variegata le cui sfaccettature diventano arricchimento e punto di forza. Non di meno le liriche, che se spesso ermetiche e di non facile comprensione, spaziano dai sentimenti alla mitologia, alla psiche umana e non essendo un concept album, tutto ciò può risultare non legato, ma in verità scavando ed analizzando, anche lì possiamo scorgere un sottile filo conduttore che collega l’intera tracklist. Un’altra bella scoperta i Nordic’s Yell, che mi hanno accompagnata nella scrittura di questa recensione e che continueranno a tenermi compagnia anche in futuro.

We always welcome bands from across the globe but very rarely do the French make an appearance to us let alone not really knowing much about the French rock scene. But these guys popped our way and boy am I glad they did, A hard hitting alternative rock band with an incredible sound, accompanied by the lead singers gruff calm fantastic sounding voice and some awesome backing vocals they know how to harmonize rock and they do it very well. Vocally superb, Lyrically supreme and the music is just rocks.
